WINEMAKER’S NOTES

Lovely ruby color. The nose reveals dark raspberry, sun-ripened plum, rose petals, cigar box, and black tea. On the palate the wine has a silky and supple mouthfeel, with notes of richly spiced bramble puree. Structurally it has the perfect balance of acid and tannin to maintain freshness. A tough wine to put down!

Vintage Notes: The 2021 vintage was all the way around a spectacular one. An abnormally dry spring in Willamette Valley meant we had to carefully manage the timing of plowing in our cover crop, so it did not offer too much competition for water with the vines. The decision to do so was rewarded when a summer heat wave in August struck and our Toil Estate Vineyard sailed through it without event. An absolutely gorgeous September allowed us to perfectly ripen this smaller-than-normal crop.
