WINEMAKER’S NOTES
I could not have been more fortunate than to have 2012 as the inaugural release vintage of Toil Oregon. Nearly all of the Willamette veterans that I deeply respect agree that it is one of the finest vintages the Valley has ever seen. The weather was perfect — warm, dry, and sunny for the entirety of the season. Our first commercial release introduces itself with driving black tea, earth and tobacco — then unfolds with crushed raspberry, cranberries, and even blueberries. The deliciously smooth and lengthy finish is lifted with mouthwatering acidity. Having profound richness for Pinot Noir, I am incredibly proud of this first release, sourced from roughly equal parts Ridgecrest Vineyard (Ribbon Ridge) and Schindler Vineyard (Eola-Amity).
