WINEMAKER’S NOTES

Mesmerizing magenta color. Expressive nose of ripe strawberries, cranberry sauce, nutmeg, and iced black tea. The velvety palate has complex layers of sweet, ripe marionberry and currant with notes of white pepper and lingers deliciously across a delightful core of cleansing acidity.

Vintage Notes: The 2021 vintage was all the way around a spectacular one.  An abnormally dry spring in Willamette Valley meant we had to carefully manage the timing of plowing in our cover crop, so it did not offer too much competition for water with the vines. The decision to do so was rewarded when a summer heat wave in August struck and our Toil Estate Vineyard sailed through it without event.  An absolutely gorgeous September allowed us to perfectly ripen this smaller-than-normal crop.
